ACACIA PODALYRIIFOLIA Seeds

“Queensland Silver Wattle”

Family: Fabaceae.

Sprouting: 21-42 days.

Also known as Pearl Wattle. A tall shrub or small perennial tree to 6m that flowers in spring with bright golden blooms emerging from the silver-grey to grey-green coloured foliage. Although endemic to south eastern Queensland and North-eastern NSW, it is also naturalising in areas further south as well as Western Australia and South Australia. Has both male and female organs and fixes nitrogen. Makes a great hedging plant. Cold-hardy down to 7C.

The delicately sweet-perfumed flowers are considered ed1ble when cooked.  Rich in pollen, they are often used to make fritters.
