DIETES BICOLOR “Wild Iris”
Family: Iridaceae
Sprouting: 30-90 days.
Dietes bicolor (variously known as African iris or fortnight lily). Belongs to the Iridaceae (Iris) family. Can form large clumps if left undisturbed for years. Common in horticulture in its native South Africa, where it is often used in public gardens, beautification of commercial premises and along roadsides.
The flowers are yellow with three dark purple spots, each surrounded by an orange outline, and are followed by a seed pod that may bend the flower stalks to the ground
Prefers dappled shade to full sun where it will flower profusely, though it will grow in shaded areas (producing less flowers). Extremely drought tolerant. A great plant for large borders, fence lines, meridian strips, and traffic islands.
****Please note: these are seeds (we are NOT selling these as live plants). Quarantine restrictions and costs prohibit us from selling these seeds to WA, Tas, and Internationally.
