KENNEDIA RUBICUNDA “Dusky Coral Pea”

Sprouting: 10-50 days.
Endemic to WA, SA, VIC, NSW and Tasmania, mainly in coastal areas.
Hardy, prostrate ground covering vine to 2m with pea-shaped red and yellow flowers.Prefers a dry, light-medium soil in an open sunny position. Drought and frost resistant.
Scarlet pea-type flowers can be sucked to obtain sweet nectar. Flowers can also be used as a salad garnish or they be added to water where they’ll release a delicious nectar. The leaves can be steeped in hot water to create a liquorice-flavoured tea.
It is a vigorous climber with stems up to 4m in length and oval-shaped leaflets in threes up to12 cm long. It is killed by bushfire and regenerates from seed dormant in the soil.
